The Facts
VIBA Festival (Video arte Internacional Buenos Aires) is a young and independent project dedicated to the diffusion of contemporary video art from Argentina and the world during the week of the 22 to 29 of November, 2009. VIBA seeks to bring video art and city life together; taking video to the streets of Buenos Aires, allowing the cosmopolitan, urban atmosphere to create new ways of seeing and enjoying a form of art in movement that keeps growing in the local and international art scene.
VIBA started with ThisIsNotAGallery and in this first version its curatorial view is based on cultural diversity and diverse thinking hoping to find a common ground in which to show this plurality through the eyes of video and give the opportunity to emerging and established artists, art enthusiasts, and citizens to be in synchronicity through images and ideas.
VIBA Festival will have mobile galleries all over Buenos Aires from the 22 to the 27 of November and presentations at ThisIsNotAGallery from the 27 to the 29.

The Vision
Life is based on the condition that we understand opposing perspectives. In order to live, we connect and disconnect from the real and the imaginary, the tangible and intangible, the analog and the digital, and the rural and the urban. VIBA is life – a reflection of the everyday: the alterations and differing cultural perspectives that are essential to continuing.

La profundidad de la oración La Razón de Mi Vida combina la intensidad y la poesía presentes en la vida de Evita así como la idea esencial de Wittgenstein del lenguaje como filosofía, capturadolas aquí en una sola frase. Senstad suma a esto la noción de las variables del lenguaje al incliur el texto en Inglés, Español y Chino para evidenciar las capas de símbolos y la dirección de los patrones-ejemplificando la universalidad de las palabras y la lengua.

Art coincides with this theory. It is a form of self-expression that exists as a human condition. It follows the path of humanity through its migrations and settlements.
Because of transportation and the Internet, a mass exodus is occurring: from nowhere to somewhere. There is a necessity to accept these pioneers when in fact we desire to alter them. There is no correct choice. Without solution, we fight a battle with our own cultural definitions.
Video has an equal affect: it allows us to experience alternative viewpoints just as we see. Just as countries have laid paths for pioneers, media has paved the way for image in motion to become a prevalent form of communication. Parallel to communication arises self-expression – the art of video – as an opposing perspective on cultural representation.
As Argentina gains expanded access to the global community, so follows the contemporary art world. VIBA Fest explores the unification of global citizens with the goal of promoting a broader cultural understanding. This is a new movement: the acceptance and diffusion of diverse ethnographic perspectives in hopes of identifying, acknowledging, and enlightening to the fact that we are all one species with a single common virtue: the ability to live.
